TRAUMA SCREENINGS & MENTAL HEALTH

WHAT TO EXPECT

Our multidisciplinary team response includes access to trauma focused mental health services for child victims and non-offending family members. The CAC provides referrals to community based therapy services that will best support your family’s treatment needs. Without effective therapeutic intervention, child victims of abuse may suffer ongoing or long term consequences that may impact them throughout their lifetimes.

During your CAC appointment, you and your child will receive a comprehensive trauma-informed assessment which will evaluate your child’s level of mental health need. These screening tools are a valuable source of information in determining which children are at risk for mental health issues and would benefit from such a referral. It is our team’s goal to help your child and family to process their feelings surrounding the abuse and/or trauma they’ve experienced. The CAC case manager will discuss therapy options with you and your child during your CAC appointment and will make the most appropriate treatment referral. Our role is to connect you and your child with resources and services as soon as possible to meet the needs of your family and to help your child begin the healing process.

Our team cares about what is best for your child or children and your family as a whole. Following your CAC appointment, if you are undecided about therapy services for your family, our door is always open to explain options that are available to you.
